Photographing children, or 'kidlets' as I like to call them, is one of my favorite things to do with a camera.

Yes... kiddies aren't always super-cooperative or happy about being photographed, but I have found over the years that the best way to shoot kids is by making sure that you're just as big a kid as they are. Well... that is me. I'm just a big kid in a petite adult body, always smiling and trying to have a good time. Plus... a really good telephoto lens is your best friend with a shy toddler!

Family photo sessions take place either at your home or on location, the choice is totally yours.

When I arrive for a family photo session, please be relaxed and don't make a big fuss about everyone being dressed 'matchy matchy'. The best results from family photo sessions are when you, your partner/spouse and your kids [including the 4-legged ones] are at ease and totally comfortable. If that means your toddler has a lollipop stained mouth, your 'tween wearing a sports jersey, your 5 year old's pigtails are cockeyed with bangs hanging in her eyes - so be it. That is real, that is life and life is beautiful!

Don't be alarmed if at some point during the shoot I take your child aside to work with them separately... I'm told I have a way with kids. I'm a big a goofball so I can usually help your camera shy child come out of their shell and make the experience a little bit more fun.

If you have a favorite spot, oversized chair or favorite room, let me know and we'll work with it.
If your child's room is colourful and bright, we'll go play and if your bedroom is airy and light-filled, I may ask you to all pile onto the bed with fluffy pillows all around. I want you to be at ease, and being at ease means working in the places you love the most.

If a location photo session is planned, we can go to a variety of locations and just concentrate on having FUN! Let the kids play at the playground, at the beach, wherever; the main thing with a family session is to enjoy the moment, let kids do what they will and everything will fall into place - photographically speaking ;^)
